Health and Safety in the Workplace
Employee Procedures to Follow:
Health/Safety in your work environment is of utmost importance to the management and staff at CSSI. We encourage everyone to work their best, but work safe. We will monitor and assess any situations in the work place that will either compromise the health and safety for yourself, or your co-workers. CSSI highly recommends while working on any job, you report any questionable infractions including any near misses to your supervisor. To not report such occurrences can result in immediate termination and loss of any potential benefits.
Most work sites have their own internal orientation and safety packages for workers. We encourage you to acquire these immediately upon arrival on your first days work. Confirm all safety equipment required for that job, and notify CSSI of any concerns or other requirements or any necessary changes. Under the WSIB Act, it is your responsibility to your employer to notify them of any incident or injury that will compromise your own health and safety while on any specific job.
Four-Step Program
1. Get First Aid immediately if needed and report any infractions to CSSI.
2. Notify both your Supervisor and CSSI about any injury. Your Supervisor and CSSI will make arrangements for transportation to a medical care facility, if needed.
3. Your wages are covered for the day of your injury. An incident report and a modified work program will be required in conjunction with your medical reports to sustain and expedite recovery to include any missed days of work there after.
4. You must confirm all necessary paperwork is completed with CSSI and WSIB. This includes if health care treatment is given, lost time is acquired or just time away from work.
5. Your emergency contact numbers are 705-524-1722 / 1-866-524-1722 / 705-929-1753 (after hours).
As a partner with CSSI and an employer, we are adamant about working safe on every job, at every site, every time.
If an incident does occur, CSSI is required to follow very specific Health and Safety reporting and documentation procedures. We recommend you report all incidents, near-misses, including First Aid requirements.
Upon completion and assessing your Health and Safety concern, you will be required to have a Function Ability Form completed by your attending physician at the nearest hospital or walk-in clinic. CSSI will be able to assist in a safe and progressive Returnto- Work Program.
As long as CSSI has modified work available, it is the responsibility of the worker to follow CSSI protocol on Health and Safety Policies and to make every effort to get to work and carry out their regular duties. We will make every effort to accommodate you and expedite your safe return to work.
Safety is a full time job, don't make it a part time practice.
